Description:
Merovitz Potechin LLP is seeking an Accounting Clerk to join our growing team.
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Our finance team is fueled by curiosity, a desire for constant improvement, and the accuracy of our financial information. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Accounting Clerk will process and record daily transactions, prepare reconciliations, and assist the accounting team in regular reporting. This role involves communicating with people at all levels within the organization as well as clients and business partners, therefore it requires a high degree of professionalism and care during the performance of all tasks. The accounting clerk shall possess a strong ability to problem solve, a desire for constant learning, and contribute to a positive team environment.
This is a full-time permanent opportunity that offers a great work atmosphere, opportunity for growth and a challenging environment.
Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000, based on experience

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in accounting, commerce, finance, administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum three (3) years’ accounts receivable/payable, finance and accounting experience in a fast-paced environment, preferably in law firm or legal services organization.
- Advanced Microsoft Office 365 skills, emphasis on Excel (required).
- Knowledge and experience with Soluno billing and accounting software (preferred).
- High degree of professionalism, confidentiality, tact and diplomacy in dealing with others.
- Advanced interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to multi-task and work in a self-directed fashion; well-organized and attentive to details.
- Adaptability to emerging priorities and the ability to quickly learn new processes
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to visualize and deliver creative solutions
Responsibilities:
- Record day-to-day financial transactions and general ledger entries into Soluno (Accounting software)
- Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations in areas including payables, receivables, prepaids, and accruals
- Assist with preparation of quarterly financial reconciliations and reporting
- Review expenses for multiple cost centers and ensure they are appropriately categorized
- Identify and implement process improvements to help reduce time to close and automate manual tasks
- Prepare ad hoc analyses and complete other assignments as necessary
