The Township of Spallumcheen is looking for a dynamic and energetic individual to join our Finance team.

You will have considerable experience in finance and accounting processes, preferably in a municipal environment, supplemented by post secondary courses in accounting and business administration, or an equivalent combination of local government training and experience. This includes:

  • Detailed knowledge of the fiscal processes for municipal operating programs is required as is knowledge of clerical accounting procedures.
  • Knowledge and ability to perform all functions of a finance department.
  • General knowledge of local government.
  • Highly organized, neat and accurate with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability and skill to prepare correspondence quickly, accurately and professionally.
  • Ability to use tact diplomacy and courtesy in dealing with elected officials, staff members and the public.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Vadim is an asset.
  • Keyboarding speed of 50 wpm and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite is also required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts and strong customer service skills are required.
  • The required education, training and experience for this position include completion of Grade 12, completion of Level 1, CPA or equivalent, and preferred three (3) years diverse work experience in accounting.

This is a regular full-time position in the CUPE bargaining unit with a regular work schedule of 35 hours per week. The hourly rate of pay is $33.01. Comprehensive municipal benefits are provided.
