Description:

Waste Connections of Canada is looking for an Accounting Clerk for our Coquitlam, BC location.
The Accounting Clerk will be responsible for managing key financial tasks, including handling cash, processing direct deposits, posting accounting adjustments into our Trux system, and performing bank reconciliations in Waste Connections of Canada. The role requires a collaborative approach, working closely with our A/R collections and sales teams to ensure accurate financial records and smooth operational processes. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about accounting and is on the path to pursuing a CPA designation.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Accurately handle daily cash transactions and ensure proper record-keeping.
  • Process direct deposits and manage associated accounting entries within the Trux system.
  • Post accounting adjustments, ensuring all data is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations to maintain the integrity of financial records.
  • Collaborate with A/R collections and sales teams to resolve discrepancies and facilitate timely collections.
  • Communicate effectively to facilitate the transfer of accounts to collections as needed.
  • Assist with additional accounting tasks as required to support the finance team.

If you have the following skills and experience, we would like to hear from you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Passion for accounting and intent to pursue a CPA designation.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
  • Experience with Trux or similar accounting software is a plus.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
