REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Minimum of 3-5 years in an accounting management position, with increased accounting management level responsibilities
- Familiarity with US-based public companies
- Familiarity with Revenu Quebec and the Canadian Revenue Agency
- Understanding of Inventory and Manufacturing Cost Accounting
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with SAP
Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Accounting Manager provides support, training, leadership, and problem-solving to the accounting department to ensure the successful implementation of financial objectives. This role involves directing and actively supporting subordinates to maximize results through efficient use of budgeted resources.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Month-End Close: Perform timely month-end accounting close by the third business day of the month, meeting all corporate reporting deadlines. Prepare journal entries, spreadsheets, and reports to efficiently and accurately generate site financial statements.
- Financial Reporting: Provide site and corporate management with relevant financial and management reports monthly and as needed. Educate users on report implications and express opinions on financial results and potential outcomes of decision-making.
- Advocacy: Advocate for corporate and site-driven financial initiatives such as new software implementation, new accounting methodologies, business process improvement, and other corporate and site initiatives.
- Professional Development: Maintain skill set through continuing professional education, reading current business and accounting literature, membership in professional societies, and staying aware of current societal and business trends.
- Compliance: Perform duties according to US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002. Maintain confidentiality of data and comply with all corporate and professional guidelines regarding personal integrity and business ethics.
- Team Development: Develop direct reports by securing appropriate training, assigning progressively challenging tasks, applying progressive disciplinary action as needed, and conducting formal written and verbal performance reviews.
- Operational Oversight: Monitor daily work operations and provide direction and guidance to lower-level supervisors, experienced exempt employees, or skilled non-exempt staff to achieve unit or project goals.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
