JOB SUMMARY
As an Accounting Manager at TRY Recycling, your primary responsibility is to support and drive the financial health and performance of our company.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- University or College Degree in Business/Accounting or equivalent work experience, CA/CPA designation not required
- Must have two years of experience in public accounting
- Extensive experience and knowledge of all aspects of public accounting and financial management that relates to a Canadian Controlled Private Corporation in this industry
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel
- Strong intellect with a well-developed business acumen
- Ability to act with integrity, discretion, and confidentiality is a non-negotiable as position deals with Private and Confidential Information.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills - must be an effective communicator both verbally and in writing
- Thorough knowledge of all relevant Federal, Provincial and local requirements regarding financial records is essential.
- Knowledge of ERP computer systems an asset
- Ability to adapt to and learn new software
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to make the necessary decisions to move forward the work at hand
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks for self and others and follow them through to completion
- Proven ability to lead and motivate others
- Thorough understanding of expense control of inventory
- Organizational ability and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a team environment to achieve common goals as well as independently

Responsibilities:
- Supporting the CFO in the preparation and administration of financial statements, draft budgets, and forecasts.
- Manage the accounting operations including the review of journal entries, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, sales, purchases and statutory reporting.
- Prepare the detailed monthly financial statements, in keeping with the company’s time frame and format; ensure that all accounts are up-to-date and accurate.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Analyze financial performance and variances, providing insights and recommendations to senior management for decision-making.
- Maintain existing internal controls to safeguard assets and mitigate financial risks and work to continuously improve those controls.
- Oversee and monitor Administrative Accounting clerk, ensuring a high level of performance and day to day productivity.
- Collaborate with department leaders to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and maximize revenue opportunities.
- Assist with the implementation of financial strategies to optimize profitability and ensure long-term financial stability.
- Support with the management of cash flow, working capital, and financing activities to help operational needs and strategic initiatives.
- Assign and authorize cheques, purchase orders and invoices.
- Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
- Assist with the management of the year- end financial statement preparation process.
- Ensure rapid and consistent collection of receivables by refining and implementing control mechanisms.
- Other special projects, duties as required or assigned.
