WEISHAUPT DESIGN GROUP (“WDG”) is a North American based furniture retailer, manufacturer and distributor engaged in both residential and contract markets, offering contemporary designs with timeless style and enduring quality.
WDG is currently seeking an experienced full-time Accounting Specialist for both business and Family Office responsibilities. Reporting to the CFO of the business, the successful candidate will be a strategic individual with approximately 5 years of managerial accounting and financial management experience in a rapidly growing entrepreneurial environment.

Family Office Responsibilities:

  • Full cycle bookkeeping including A/P, A/R, bank and credit card reconciliation and month end journal entries.
  • Investment bookkeeping including reconciliation with broker statements and tax reporting slips.
  • Preparation of supporting documents for year-end across a multitude of entities.
  • Assist in the design, oversight and implementation of tax planning initiatives and manage other financial and accounting needs of the owner
  • Advise on cash management and support planning and optimization of cash management strategies
  • Work with tax experts to recommend tax strategies for organizational structure, remuneration and distribution of income and donation planning
  • Develop & maintain Family Office reporting

Business Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and filing of sales tax in both Canada, the US and Europe in collaboration with external tax advisors.
  • Assist in month-end close processes, particularly as they relate to the Family Office transactions.
  • Other duties as required.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • The role is ideally suited for a candidate who is looking to advance their career in either Corporate Accounting or a family office environment. The successful candidate will possess the following attributes, skills and experience:
  • Accounting degree required; CPA/CFA designation strongly preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in tax, either in a corporate or family office setting
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in a similar/related role, especially working with high-net-worth clients
  • Prior experience with financial modeling and automation tools preferred.
  • Knowledge and expertise in areas of accounting and tax (corporate and personal)
  • Strong organization, technical and research skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work as a member of a team
  • Entrepreneurial spirited with a desire to build a long-term career and develop strong relationships
  • High level of initiative, ability to adapt in a face-paced environment
