  • WEISHAUPT DESIGN GROUP (“WDG”) is a North American based furniture retailer, manufacturer and distributor engaged in both residential and contract markets, offering contemporary designs with timeless style and enduring quality.
    WDG is currently seeking an experienced full-time Accounting Specialist, Family Office. Reporting to the CFO of the business, the successful candidate will be a strategic individual with approximately 5 years of managerial accounting and financial management experience in a rapidly growing entrepreneurial environment.

REQUIREMENTS

The role is ideally suited for a candidate who is looking to advance their career in both the wealth management industry and family office environment. The successful candidate will possess the following attributes, skills and experience:

  • Undergraduate degree required; CPA/CFA designation an asset
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in a similar/related role, preference given to those who have worked with high net-worth clients
  • Knowledge and expertise in areas of accounting and tax (corporate and personal)
  • Strong organization, technical and research skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work as a member of a team
  • Entrepreneurial spirited with a desire to build a long-term career and develop strong relationships
  • High level of initiative, ability to adapt in a face-paced environment
  • A source of new ideas and seeks opportunities to improve results
  • A positive, collaborative, dependable leader with a strong strategic skillset who will pitch in and get their hands dirty.

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Full cycle bookkeeping including A/P, A/R, bank and credit card reconciliation and month end journal entries.
  • Investment bookkeeping including reconciliation with broker statements and tax reporting slips.
  • Preparation of supporting documents for year-end across a multitude of entities.Assist in the design, oversight and implementation of tax planning initiatives and manage other financial and accounting needs of the owner


    • Monitor the financial information of Owner and act as a key point of contact for Owner and external service providers (investment managers, accountants, lawyers, banking representatives, etc.)

    • Maintain Owner records and act as a key point of contact for Owner and their trusted advisors
    • Advise on cash management and support planning and optimization of cash management strategies
    • Assist in the management of recurring and routine investment, tax and accounting needs for Owner
    • Work with tax experts to recommend tax strategies for organizational structure, remuneration and distribution of income and donation planning
    • Assist in real estate purchases and structure set-up for optimal tax and operational needs.Develop and maintain reporting on development work at real estate properties.
