Description:

ACCOUNTING SUPERVISOR

Reporting to the Comptroller, the Accounting Supervisor is responsible for assisting with budget planning, budget administration and supervision of budget process, coaching and mentoring of the Accounting Department staff, supervision of Gas Station operations manager and capital projects for Gas Station.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional accounting designation: CPA, CGA, CMA, CA is an asset
  • Working knowledge of Adagio accounting software
  • Strong leadership skills in performance management and capacity development

· Superior communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Working knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Responsibilities:

· Management of the day to day operations of the Accounting Department, including: accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts and payroll,

  • Liaise with Department Heads in the development, implementation, monitoring and reporting ofthe annual budget process,

· Development and implementation of Accounting Department policies and procedures to ensure efficient and adequate accounting processes, including periodic testing of same,

  • Provide leadership and direction to the Accounting Department team including supervision, training and development, coaching, mentoring and performance evaluation,
  • Maintains the general ledger and related inputs for accurate, timely monthly and annual financial reporting,
  • Monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet and income statement accounts,
  • Ensure regulatory reports and remittances are made, including GST, PST, federal reports (INAC, Health, DFO, etc.) and provincial fiscal reports,

· Liaise with ’Namgis management staff, federal and provincial governments and other related entities as required,

  • Ensures that all transactions including are carried out according to ’Namgis Finance Policies and

Procedures, ’Namgis Financial by-Laws and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles GAAP
· Prepares fuel inventory monthly and counts cigarette inventory last day of every month,
· Provide leadership and direction to Gas Station Manager and attendants in Manager’s absence,
· Responsible for remitting of Quarterly GST filing and annual Carbon Tax filing for Gas Station,
· Monthly direct deposit for Council, Post Secondary student living allowance and Social Development clients
· Other related duties as may be required from time to time.
