Description:
Teksouth is seeking an Accounting Technician to support our client onsite at Shaw AFB, SC. You will support financial analysis and conduct Air Force accounting within standard and local systems, funds control, vendor pay, Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS), financial reviews and reporting, and quality assurance.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have an active DOD Secret security clearance
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of accounting experience is required. Additional years of relevant professional experience or certifications may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
- Air Force Financial Management/Accounting experience is preferred
- Experience in accounting/financial systems such as CRIS, DJMS, DTS, DEAMS, General Accounting and Finance System/Base Query (GAFS/BQ), Integrated Accounts Payable System (IAPS), Wide Are Work Flow (WAWF), FMSuite, Automated Business Services System (ABSS), etc.
- Must be well organized and a self-starter
- Strong problem-solving skills, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills
- Ability to communicate professionally (verbally and in writing) with employees and vendors

Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive accounting support including General Ledger accounting, accounts receivable, financial reporting, funds control, budget analysis and customer service
- Monitor, process, track, verify and reconcile military and travel pay accounting transactions. Identify and rectify abnormalities; recommend accounting adjustments in funds
- Analyze and reconcile current and prior year accounting transactions, ensuring operations are compliant with USAF, DoD and Federal financial regulations and guidelines
- Provide technical guidance to forward deployed finance personnel and resolve processing issues. Input, query, extract and analyze data in the DEAMS, DJMS, DTS systems. Examine, group, code and post accounting documents on-line into the automated financial systems.
- Work with funds control, vendor pay, Defense Finance and Accounting Servies (DFAS) liaison
- Performs financial reviews and reporting
- Supports accounting activities, appropriates and a ranged of processing centers
- Supports formal AF fund reviews to include Tri-Annual Reviews, Commitment Reviews, Accounts Receivable Reviews, Travel Tri-Annual Reviews, Miscellaneous Obligation Reimbursement Documents reviews and others.
- Provides RMs with automated files and listings to support validation of commitments, unliquidated obligations, and receivable
- Enables validation of fund records and balances
- Assists in review completion through facilitation, identification and correction of situations that may delay recording of commitments or obligations
- Involve the matching of disbursements to obligations
- Pinpoint inaccuracy of fund/record balances
- Process adjustments or corrections identified by the RMs when such corrections are adequately justified/documented
