Description:
TAM International is in search of an Accounting Technician with excellent attention to detail, a solid understanding of accounting processes, and experience with Accounts Payable & Receivable. This role has the flexibility to be mostly remote in the Kelowna, BC area, or if the job seeker is based in the Saskatoon region, can work from our beautiful space overlooking the Saskatchewan river in downtown Saskatoon.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or another related field.
- Experience in a similar role would be considered an asset
- Strong working knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
- Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Practices.
- Perform mathematical computations accurately and quickly.
- Experience and knowledge in dealing with accounting systems, budgets, internal controls, business planning, and asset management is desirable.
- Advanced proficiency with Xero and spreadsheet programs is considered an asset.
- Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- High level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability.
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
- Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
- Ability to respond appropriately in pressure situations with a calm and steady demeanor.
- A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.

Responsibilities:
THE ROLE:
The Accounting Technician will manage company accounts payable and accounts receivable and maintain appropriate financial documentation through an organized filing system. This opportunity will allow you to work closely with the Controller who is responsible for the general accounting and treasury function of the business. This role will be a mix of weekly accounting tasks (ex., accounts payable) and monthly accounting duties (ex., month end tasks) as outlined below. You will be working for a growing organization where you will have opportunities to gain exposure to various finance and operational functions of a dynamic, multinational company.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintaining an organized filing system for all appropriate documents.
- Manage accounts payable by monitoring the accounts payable inbox, verify costs against budgets, matching bills to purchase orders, posting bills, payments, and reconciling accounts to statements.
- Manage accounts receivable through posting invoices and collections management.
- Act as first-line contact with vendors/clients regarding billing/invoicing problems.
- Review employee expense reports for accurate account coding and tax application.
- Prepare the general ledger, journal entries and bank reconciliation.
- Verify account codes and signatures for proper assignment of budgetary expenditures.
- Complete month-end close reconciliations including monthly accounting reports.
- Maintain fixed assets register.
- Store, update, and retrieve financial data.
- Perform clerical duties, such as maintaining filing and record systems, and processing credit applications.
- Support the business with project related reporting.
- Assist with annual review engagement.
- Prepare monthly sales tax returns.
- Contribute to process improvements and efficiency initiatives with the finance department.
- Keep the Controller informed of potential accounting and billing problems.
