Description:

Reporting directly to the Assistant Controller the Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for acquiring and processing invoices and expense claims and arranging payments to vendors and/or customers.

Responsibilities:

AS AN ACCOUNTS PAYABLE SPECIALIST, YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):

  • Processing vendor invoices against received and accepted inventory
  • Review employee expense claims for accuracy and compliance followed by ensuring payment is made through payroll in a timely manner
  • Reconcile and process corporate American Express travel account monthly
  • Maintain and reconcile a Return to Vendor listing and analyze aging items while working with Supply Chain to determine a course of action
  • Assist with month end processes including maintaining Accounts Payable subledger and reconciling Accounts Payable suspense accounts
  • Prepare and submit wire requests and update ledger with adjustments
  • Clear receipts related to purchase orders paid for by credit cards and update ledger with adjustments
  • Maintain vendor files and communicate status of payments as required

WHAT YOU REQUIRE TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE:

  • Possession of a Diploma Business Administration with a focus in accounting from a recognized post‑secondary institution or equivalent years of experience
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in an accounts payable function
  • Experience work with an integrated accounting software
  • Demonstrated financial analysis skills are required
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and time management skills
  • Effective team player with highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to interface well with people of different disciplines and levels
