Description:

We are in the search for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team based in Detroit, Michigan. This role is an excellent chance to engage in the finance industry, particularly in the area of accounting. As an Accounts Payable Specialist, you will be entrusted with managing and ensuring the accuracy of accounts payable, auditing income, and performing various clerical and accounting duties. This position offers a contract to hire employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the preparation and processing of invoices weekly, ensuring they match with approved purchase orders.
  • Conduct weekly check runs, including printing of checks and mailing.
  • Maintain the W-9 vendor process as per the company’s policy and procedures, and keep an updated W-9 database for all vendors.
  • Manage and reconcile monthly account statements.
  • Handle and oversee the daily reconciliation of revenues, adjustments, and settlements received.
  • Research and classify miscellaneous transactions accurately.
  • Be accountable for payroll processing and the recording of hours and wages.
  • Take responsibility for the daily reconciliation of cash drops to financial system reports and the preparation of daily deposits.
  • Take part in month-end closing and reconciliation processes.
  • Assist with annual external audits and testing requests.
  • Proficiency in performing all accounting functions, including maintaining financial records and preparing reports
  • Demonstrated experience in Accounts Payable (AP) processes such as invoice processing, expense report handling, and vendor communication
  • Strong understanding of general ledger systems and procedures
  • Ability to reconcile AP transactions and resolve discrepancies efficiently
  • Proficient in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Strong analytical skills to review and audit financial data
  • Excellent organizational skills for maintaining financial records and managing tasks
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with internal teams and external vendors
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred.
