Accounts Payable Specialist

We are offering a contract to permanent employment opportunity for an Accounts Payable Specialist in GLEN ALLEN, Virginia. As part of our Manufacturing team, you will be an integral part of our financial operations, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices and maintaining excellent internal and external communication.

Responsibilities: • Utilize Accounts Payable workflow tools for efficient invoice approval and integration with the company’s ERP system. • Maintain strong communication with vendors and buyers to resolve any issues related to purchase orders. • Ensure prompt and accurate entry and payment of vendor invoices, while maintaining precise records and control reports. • Review invoices for correct account classifications, verify receipt of goods or services, and resolve any discrepancies related to prices, delivery, or quality. • Conduct detail oriented communication with internal and external parties, documenting actions taken to resolve arising issues. • Participate in month-end close duties including the timely closure of accounts payable systems and collaboration with the accounting department to record accrued liabilities for invoices not yet received. • Monitor and analyze specific accounts payable operations such as invoice research and follow up; design or revise forms, tools, and procedures to improve efficiency. • Handle any additional accounts payable duties and special projects as needed. • Utilize accounting software systems, including ADP - Financial Services and Concur, to perform accounting functions efficiently. • Apply knowledge of Accrual Accounting and Automated Clearing House (ACH) operations in the execution of duties.

• Proficient in accounting software systems
• Familiar with account coding
• Experience with ADP - Financial Services
• Competent in using Concur
• Understanding of ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning
• Able to handle accounting functions
• Knowledge of Accounts Payable (AP)
• Familiarity with Accrual Accounting
• Experience in auditing
• Knowledge of Automated Clearing House (ACH) operations
• Background in the chemicals manufacturing industry
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
