DESCRIPTION:

  • Contribute to projects that require specialized and innovative approaches. This involves collaborating with and supporting project teams to help meet timelines and achieve implementation milestones
  • Perform all machining and fabrication processes, including welding and wood workingResponsible for individual safety and the safety of others around you. This entails making sure all machines and equipment are in good repair and maintained properly, following safety protocols and lab rules.
  • Review and provide feedback on design for manufacturing, fabrication, assembly and commissioning of specialized machines, fixtures, tooling, and “one-off” prototype builds. This requires direct communication with external industry clients as well as academic researchers of all project requirements.This also includes the development of detailed specifications and often leading the procurement of materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Key resource for maintenance, participating in critical elements of the scheduled and annualized maintenance and repair of essential ACE CRF chambers and processes. This includes the collaborative development of long-term solutions and continuous improvement of ACE CRF equipment and processes with ACE Engineers and Technicians.
  • This position is also critical for unscheduled and emergency repairs requiring manufacturing and fabrication solutions.
  • Maintaining all specialized ACE Fabrication Shop equipment and tools.
  • Direct collaboration with project staff, and direct supervision of limited term full time and part time dependent on project requirements. This includes “hands on” training to Engineers, Technicians and Engineering Students, Interns & Co-ops.
  • Ensure all safety protocols are being followed throughout ACE and fabrication shop.
  • Advise student capstone projects being worked on in the fabrication shop.
  • ACE is a multi-shift operation that include afternoons and weekends. The candidate must be prepared to work irregular hours. Successful applicants must be flexible to work varying hours and /or shifts. There may be occasional travel requirements. Operational hours comprise of core hours of 8 am to 12:00 midnight. Generally, the core shifts are 8am to 4pm, 4pm-12 midnight or 12 noon to 8 pm (Monday -Friday) but occasionally may include weekends. However, candidate must be prepared to work flexible hours, start and stop times dependent on the client’s requirements. This position is required to be physically present on-site.Must always demonstrate professional behavior when dealing with customers, management, and co-workers.
  • Must have clear, concise, and accurate communication skills in English, both verbal and written. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to self or to others. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license & be Controlled Goods eligible

EDUCATION:

  • 3 Year Engineering Technology College Diploma (required)

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years Machining expertise
  • CAD (Computer Aided Design)
  • Fundamental understanding of building techniques
  • Able to read and understand mechanical drawings
  • Basic wood working skills
  • Time Management
  • Machinist/Tool and Die Maker Certificate of Qualification (optional)
