Description:
The ACEL (Adult Center for Exceptional Learning) Program provides a safe place during the day for adults with developmental and physical disabilities. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone looking to work 1:1 with individuals with disabilities in a fun, supportive environment.
The ACEL Program Assistant implements the programmatic plans/goals as written in the individual service plans. This will be done in a manner consistent with efficiency, cost effectiveness and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Attend workshops and trainings appropriate to job duties. Must complete at least 24 hours of field related training annually.
- Participate in community activities as directed by the Program Specialist/Supervisor.
- Attend and contribute to conferences and meetings concerning individuals served (as deemed appropriate by Program Specialist/Supervisor or Director.
- Implement programmatic plans/goals as written in the Individual Support Plans.
- Assist the Program Specialist/Supervisor with the following duties: Complete daily service records. Document in writing monthly progress notes, quarterly reports, and communication logs. Administer medications and complete appropriate documentation (if appropriate training is completed). Maintain record of medical visits, therapies, likes, dislikes, strengths, and other requirements of individual service plan. Discuss content with Program Supervisor and formulate suggestions for revision of individual service plan.
- Maintain and protect patient, client, and Agency confidentiality.
- Respond to individual’s strengths so as to enhance their growth and development and to help each person reach their maximum potential.
- Assist ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals in all levels of daily care, including, but not limited to: Feeding Toileting Assisting into and out of wheelchairs Assisting on and off vans Supervision of individuals.
- Participate as a team member with other ACEL staff to provide quality services to all participants.
- Attends staff meeting as scheduled and be prepared to discuss specific issues necessary for successful completion of job duties.
- Demonstrate support of Agency mission and philosophy in delivery of services.
- Participate in Agency committees as requested.
- Support individuals in center-based and/or home-based environments.
- Promote personal and co-worker safety during work duties.
- Work to achieve and maintain quality and customer satisfaction in the delivery of services to internal/external customers.
- Report suspected customer abuse to Supervisor.
- High school Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
- Six (6) months related work experience preferred.
- Access to transportation in the Agency service area with valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and auto liability insurance, if required to drive personal vehicle.
