Description:
DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented Acoustics Engineer candidate to join our team specializing in Structural, Dynamic and Acoustic Engineering for our Corporate Business at one of our Cummins Inc. locations, or if applicable, your remote home office, within the United States.
In this early career role, you will work on all product development tasks from conceptual stages through customer sign-off to ensure optimal acoustic performance is achieved. The role will include interaction with and guidance for base engine design as well as component design including gears, fuel systems, covers, turbos, air compressors, accessories, exhaust aftertreatment and motor mounts.
As an Acoustics Engineer you will:
- Apply acoustic fundamental skills to a wide variety of problems continuously striving to solve problems analytically in the concept stages.
- Implement design-right-first-time guidelines based on anticipated customer requirements during the concept stages.
- Ensure engine testing is completed at each prototype stage.
- Ensure final prototype testing of vehicle/machine acoustic testing completed with customer facing interaction to ensure objective and subjective acoustic goals are being met.
- Utilize the core competencies of acoustic/vibration source identification, transmission path analyses and radiation analyses.
You will make an impact by:
- Guiding designers to implement key acoustic design features at the concept stage avoiding costly late program changes.
- Providing program leaders with a clear understanding of acoustic related cost-to-benefit values and corresponding risks.
- Providing guidance for state-of-the-art technology implementation for both analytical and experimental acoustic methods.
- Provide face to face customer interaction to enhance customer confidence in Cummins acoustic capabilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Degree Programs Considered: Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD
Major Programs Typically Considered: All Engineering Majors
CUMMINS FULL TIME REQUIREMENTS:
- College, university, or equivalent technical experience required
- Minimum 2.5 GPA or above required
- Must be able to complete 40 hours per week
- 0-2 years in a position/internship relating to your field of study preferred
Responsibilities:
To be successful in this role you will need:
- A College, University or equivalent Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field.
- A postgraduate (Master’s or PhD) degree may be required for select Acoustics Engineer roles.
- Effective communication skills along with strengths in logic and planning.
- Good analytical, experimental and project management skills.
- Experience using Microsoft Office tools or equivalents, especially Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
