We’re currently looking for a talented and driven Technical Lead to join our Acoustics team as a Technical Director. You could be based in a number of our UK offices and we operate a hybrid working model which for us means typically 3 days in the office or on site and 2 days at home (depending on the need for site visits/client meetings).

Responsibilities:

WHAT DOES THE ROLE INVOLVE?

Driving the development of the Acoustic business across the UK in conjunction with our Team Lead. We are looking for a client facing candidate who has extensive experience in the acoustic sector. In this role you’ll be working closely with other Sweco business units with the following responsibilities:

  • Developing and maintaining Client relationships and leading in work winning.
  • Providing technical leadership and guidance to a wide range of clients and colleagues.
  • Leading and managing complex acoustic projects from initial concept to completion ensuring high standards of technical excellence and client satisfaction.
  • Technically reviewing, approving project outputs and providing technical support and expertise to team members.
  • Working collaboratively with technical specialists including other engineers, environmental specialists, construction experts, developers and project managers within the organisation and within contractor/design team organisations.
  • Contributing to larger projects, as part of wider multidisciplinary project teams, to deliver an integrated design.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU’LL HAVE:

  • A degree in acoustics or similar, or suitable alternative education (e.g. IoA Diploma)
  • Corporate Membership of the Institute of Acoustics.
  • Registered Chartered Engineer or equivalent would be advantageous.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with the capacity to motivate and mentor a team of acoustics professionals.
  • Strong business development and client management skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering complex acoustics projects, including experience in noise impact assessments, architectural acoustics, and environmental noise control.
  • Excellent technical report writing skills.
  • An in-depth understanding of relevant UK guidance and standards that are applied within the planning context (including EIA) as well as an understanding of building acoustics standards, regulations and methodologies.
  • Competent in the use of Cadna/A, Odeon and INSUL.
  • Experience in vibration monitoring and assessment would be an advantage.A willingness to travel and a full driving licence are essential to the role.
