35 hours per week, 9:30am to 5:30pm but additional hours may be required. We are happy to consider agile and flexible working patterns. Department Description
Our Acquisition and Leveraged Finance practice sits within the Banking and Loan Finance group in London. The practice advises both lenders and borrowers (including financial sponsors) on the financing of domestic and cross-border acquisitions, particularly leveraged acquisitions and is one of the leading City firms advising on these types of deals in the mid-market. Typical transactions would take the form of private equity sponsored management buy-outs, corporate acquisitions and public bids as well as refinancings and recapitalisations. The team regularly acts for direct lending funds as well as banks and recent lateral hires are likely to create more opportunities for sponsor side mandates.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities

Technical Ability

  • Understanding of legal principles of own practice area, along with a working knowledge of other practice areas
  • Has project management responsibility, ensuring timely delivery to high quality standards
  • Ability to lead financing transactions, reporting directly to the supervising partner
  • Stays aware of legal developments affecting any specialist areas and regularly attends appropriate training sessions

  • Has good working relationships with clients
  • Has a good understanding of client, the sector and the associated risks and opportunities.
  • Actively works to develop and strengthen new client relationships

Person Specification
The Candidate
We have an opening for an Acquisition and Leveraged Finance lawyer. Experience gained within a top tier firm is preferred. It is essential that the candidate has a strong academic background with excellent written communication and drafting skills. The successful candidate will also have outstanding technical skills in acquisition and leveraged finance, together with the ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues and work well in a team. The ideal candidate will have between five to seven years post qualification experience (or equivalent experience) and will have experience of managing an independent case load, supervising junior team members and working as part of a larger team.
