Description:
We have an exciting opportunity for an Activity Coordinator to play an integral role in a friendly, dynamic and supportive multi-disciplinary team and make a significant contribution in the area of mental health.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- QQI Level 5 (8 modules) in Healthcare or equivalent is an advantage.
- Minimum of 6 months experience as an Activities Coordinator, Occupational Therapy Assistant, or Healthcare Assistant.
- Previous experience in a mental health setting is an advantage.
- A driving license is mandatory.

Job Location: Bloomfield Hospital, Stocking Lane, Rathfarnham, Dublin 16
Mode of Working: On-site
Contract Type: Permanent, full-time
Hours of Work: 78 hours fortnightly (flexible to work weekends)
Reports to: Director of Nursing
RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Develop a professional rapport with residents.
- Ensure that residents are greeted and welcomed to participate in activities that are appropriate to them.
- Obtain information from residents and/or their families regarding their interests and skills.
- Plan activities and programs collaboratively with individual patients.
- Organize, supervise, and implement therapeutic and recreational programs for the patients in conjunction with activity team colleagues.
- Plan, supervise, and accompany patients on appropriate outings.
- Engage patients in both group and individual activities as deemed appropriate.
- Observe general behavior, ability, and response from residents. Record observations in the resident’s clinical notes and communicate them to the ward nursing staff and wider MDT team.
- Take part in the audit process in relation to recreational and activity programs in line with the regulation requirements of the Mental Health Commission.
- Maintain competency and practice in attending and completing required training and education.
