We are looking for a talented and motivated individual to join the International Reinsurance Pricing and Analytics team of AXA XL. The role of the Actuary is to provide pricing and analytical support to various teams within International Reinsurance, with a focus on Engineering and Credit & Surety lines of business. The successful candidate will also be expected to develop expertise in reinsurance treaty pricing methodologies and tools, reinsurance products and to combine that with a deepening understanding of local markets.
Reporting to the Actuary in Zurich, the role will make an important contribution to AXA XL’s treaty pricing capabilities. You will be a dedicated team player, who is eager to learn and who possesses strong communication and technical skills.
The International Re region of AXA XL writes approximately $1.5bn of annual gross written premium and provides significant career development opportunity for the right candidate over the longer term. Our region encompasses reinsurance markets across all parts of the world excluding Americas, and the business Pricing and Analytics team partners directly with underwriting and executive management as we look to develop and deliver our strategic growth plan.

What will your essential responsibilities include?

  • Integral part of International Reinsurance Pricing and Analytics team, working actively within a cross-functional team, particularly with regional and product underwriters.
  • Providing pricing support directly to the underwriting team through individual treaty pricing.
  • Participating in pricing-related activities such as: underwriting committees; analytical/MI support for management and underwriters; portfolio monitoring; market studies; developing and maintaining proprietary models; as well as creating and validating pricing assumptions.
  • Collaboration with actuaries from other AXA XL offices on project assignments.

SHARE YOUR TALENT

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

  • Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computing Science or related discipline from a recognized university.
  • Experience: New graduate to 2 years in actuarial work. Good knowledge of insurance/reinsurance and actuarial concepts. Experience in reinsurance pricing would be desirable.
  • Programming ability in VBA, R, Python and SQL would be very valuable.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a meticulous eye for identifying inconsistencies or inaccuracies in data entry or data outputs, creating good solutions, and deploying sound decision making skills.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships (internally/externally), ability to develop and present ideas and reasoned arguments clearly and concisely to various audiences.
  • Comfortable taking ownership for own work, ability to multi-tasks and to prioritize workload and complete tasks to tight deadlines.
  • Good team player, quick learner, highly motivated and open minded.
  • Excellent in oral and written English. Another regional language is a plus.
  • Able to travel within the region from time to time.
