An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, autonomous, dynamic nurse to apply for a secondment post as an Acute Oncology Nurse Practitioner at Hinchingbrooke Hospital, Huntingdon. Although currently fixed term, this post is likely to become substantive.
The applicant must have previous AOS experience and hold an Advanced Clinical Assessment Skills qualification.
The post holder will support the cancer services and oncology teams to provide clinical and professional leadership, ensuring high standards of evidence based practice.
This nurse led service requires the post holder work autonomously in ensuring the safe co-ordination, triage, clinical assessment, treatment planning, decision making and diagnosis during the patients care pathway. The post holder must be proactive in the development and implementation of the clinical service and long-term strategic direction of the Acute Oncology service, maintaining compliance, ensuring person centred care and evaluates the patient experience across the service.

The post holder is key member of the Acute Oncology Service to ensure safe care to patients and service users and maintain a safe environment for all according to local and national standards and evaluating across the service.
Holding and being responsible for telephone led triage of patients who have received systemic anti-cancer treatment is a fundamental element to this role.
The post holder will be responsible for the triage and assessment of the patient, liaising with the treating teams, ensuring the patient is receiving the right care due the complexities of their condition.
The role requires a wide breadth of knowledge of varying tumour sites and the conditions associated with such. As well as the understanding of the toxicities related to the systemic treatments given.
The post holder will also be involved in the development and implementation of local and network protocols, pathways and audits. As well as having responsibility for delivering triage training to relevant staff within the hospital.

We are looking for a dynamic nurse with recent oncology/chemotherapy experience who is looking to develop within the acute oncology setting.
You will receive an individualised induction programme when you start, to visit all the different areas within the department
