Description:

We’re looking for a
Additive Manufacturing Engineer
Every day, we get opportunities to make a positive impact – on our colleagues, partners, customers and society. Together, we’re pioneering the solutions of the future and unlocking the full potential of precious resources. Trusted to act on initiative, we challenge conventional thinking to develop world-leading technologies that inspire progress in vital areas, including energy, food, water and shipping.
As we push forward, the innovative, open spirit that fuels our 140-year-old start-up culture and rapid growth also drives our personal growth. So, as we shape a more resourceful, less wasteful world, we build our careers too.
About the Job
As an Additive Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a key role in developing, verifying, and implementing AM processes at Alfa Laval. In this 12-month temporary position, you will join a dedicated team that drives the advancement of AM competencies within the company.
Your tasks will include working on Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM), preparing and producing components, and supporting R&D designers in optimizing designs for AM. You will also represent Alfa Laval in external research projects, lead initiatives such as improving first-time pass rates, and contribute to developing DfAM guidelines. Additionally, you will explore new simulation techniques, drive investment decisions, refine pricing models, and investigate alternative AM technologies beyond the current Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF) methods.
The position requires around 100 days of presence in Eskilstuna annually, with travel activities up to 30–50 days per year, both domestically and internationally.
Who You Are

You are an engineer with a strong interest in Additive Manufacturing, ready to take on a dynamic role that challenges you to grow and innovate. Furthermore, we expect you have:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, preferably in mechanical or industrial engineering.
  • Some experience or a strong interest in CAD modeling and AM processes.
  • Basic knowledge of materials science, especially in areas like stainless steel and metal powders.
  • Solid communication skills and a proactive attitude towards learning and problem-solving.
  • A focus on continuous improvement and a self-motivated approach.

As a person, you are naturally curious and eager to learn, with a genuine passion for exploring new technologies. Your ability to create significant impact within the organization and externally is driven by your excellent relational skills. You thrive on challenges, remaining confident and proactive even in situations with unknown elements or ambiguity. You work well both independently and as part of a team, with a strong emphasis on collaboration. While achieving goals is important to you, you also maintain a positive outlook when things don’t go as planned, viewing setbacks as opportunities for growth.
What’s in it for you?
We offer a challenging position in an open and friendly environment where we help each other to develop and create value. Your work will have a true impact on Alfa Laval’s future success.
