We’re looking for someone to join our friendly and supportive small team on an initial 12-month contract, with the possibility to job share in the same role, after the 12-month contract expiry. We need a team player who has a keen eye for detail and a love of assisting others to help us manage day-to-day people and culture tasks. You’ll work closely with both our internal customers (colleagues) and external customers in terms of job applicants, to provide accurate and timely human resources support and contribute ideas to improve how we do things. This role will have a strong focus on enhancing the employee experience in relation People & Culture (P&C) functions such as recruitment, induction, on and off boarding and training and development activities. It is ideally suited to someone who has exceptional administration skills and has an interest in the human resources field.

Responsibilities:

  • coordinating and administering the recruitment and selection, onboarding and off boarding processes and programs, including placement of job advertisements, reviewing of position descriptions, and preparing of all relevant employment documentation
  • working with the People & Culture Business Partner in providing advice, including banding assessments for
  • supporting managers and employees to adhere to Council’s P&C policies, systems, processes and activities
  • participating in recruitment selection panels, for roles advertised internally and externally (as required)
  • supporting work experience/ placement requests and assist with administration of employment initiatives, apprenticeships and traineeship schemes
  • assisting in running of reports and data for People & Culture analytics including recruitment statistics, performance reviews, people data and other P&C metrics
  • working collaboratively with the Payroll Officer, including being the back up for the running of the fortnightly pays in the Payroll Officers absence and undertaking the pay-checking process with the Payroll Officer prior to the fortnightly pay runs
  • ensuring P&C information system data is accurate and appropriately maintained including following processes for P&C and Payroll processes
  • maintaining confidentiality of P&C matters and records
  • assisting in the Staff Development and Annual Review Process as required such as supporting supervisors and employees to complete and record the process within the approved timeframe and collate and report on training needs
