Description:

The Support Manager provides direct line management support to the Service Manager in the delivery of safe, efficient, effective and timely patient care within the specified department.
To provide direct day-to-day operational support to the Service Manager in the provision of quality services within budget and that all opportunities for the continuous development and improvement of the service are appropriately considered and pursued.
To support the Service Manager in addressing urgent situations as and when they arise and know how to prioritise their workload.
To provide direct day-to-day operational support to the Service Manager in the delivery of all waiting list targets.
Ensure effective day-to-day operational management in accordance with best practice.
Support the Service Manager in the line management responsibility for Administrative Staff within the areas of responsibility.
Co-ordination of Junior Medical staff within the areas of responsibility and management of medical rotas and escalating where appropriate through structure
Support the development of patient focused pathways with key emphasis on improved patient experience

Take day-to-day operational responsibility for the requirement for, approval and monitoring of additional working hours undertaken by medical and administrative staff, fully understanding the need for financial control.
Record annual leave, study leave and sickness absences as well as coordinating medical staff rotas and locum requirements.
To support the Service Manager in maximising theatre and outpatient sessions, liaising with Consultant staff to ensure that the correct staff are in the correct clinics for the patients expected. This will also involve making short notice changes to clinic staff in situations where patients cancel or clinic staff are absent.
Provide the day-to-day operational lead and support to the Service Manager with the ongoing delivery of Referral to Treatment pathways.
Provide a robust tracking of cancer patients within the department, understanding the pathways and timescales and highlighting potential breaches before they occur.
Responsible for the daily service delivery of the department - planning workload to meet demands of the service and looking at capacity to ensure all clinicians are fully utilised.
Ensure that all Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB policies and procedures are implemented followed across the areas of responsibility.
