Description:
Overview - The Esquimalt Chamber of Commerce is a cornerstone of the business community in Esquimalt.
We advocate for all businesses within the Township, provide resources and programs that support local businesses, and advance the vitality of our region.
Job Description – We are currently seeking a proven self-starter to provide foundational support to the Board two days per week totaling 15 hours on a consistent schedule. This is a 3 month contract to start with the possibility of longer term employment in the future.
Start date: Immediately
Wage: $28.00/hr
Duties:
1. Member management – includes reaching out to current and potential members to advocate for Chamber enrollment
2. Event Planning – organize, plan, and execute monthly membership meet-ups
3. Social Media – determine a schedule and execute a consistent social media presence that ensures that the Chamber is present in the community
4. Advocacy and Outreach – develop materials for the Board to connect with new businesses and non-Chamber members to advocate for Chamber membership
5. Understand and advocate for enrollment in the Chamber Benefits Plan
6. Board support – Draft agendas, attend and take minute of Board meetings
7. Work collaboratively with the Board to tackle issues and participate in ventures that move the Chamber forward
SKILLSET SOUGHT:
- Excellent understanding of social media marketing and communications.
- Knowledgeable about the challenges small businesses face.
- Willingness to work with a forward-thinking Board and a willingness to learn Board processes and procedures.
- A basic understanding of the role of a Chamber of Commerce.
- Preference will be given to an Esquimalt residence or someone who shows an understanding of Esquimalt.
- Comfortable with outreach with the goal of business growth.
- Previous experience with the drafting of press releases and strategic communications.
- A level of curiosity that results in forging partnerships to identify solutions for various issues facing our members and the greater community.
Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract
