Description:
DEPARTMENT INFORMATION
The Herman B Wells Center for Pediatric Research conducts basic science and translational research within the Department of Pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine. The Wells Center houses more than 200 faculty investigators, staff, and trainees seeking answers to the most pressing questions related to childhood illness.
With the collaboration between scientists and physicians, the center aims to increase knowledge of causes and mechanisms of serious pediatric diseases. Our goal is to develop innovative approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of sick children in Indiana and beyond.
JOB SUMMARY
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Provides administrative support to 4 Principle Investigators.
- Helps maintain an updated library of Wells Center communications materials such as flyers, slides, photos, etc.
- Supports Wells Center photography needs.
- Writes blogs focused on highlighting Wells Center personnel or research updates.
- Manages current Wells Center social media and help establish new accounts.
- Acts as backup support for social media.
- Acts as backup support for Communications Manager.
- Acts as backup for event manager.
- Supports Summer Internship Program and MPESC as well as Summer Retreat; All Wells Center, Wells Center Picnic, and Well Center Holiday Party, Wells Speaker Series, CDMD Symposium, JDRF One Walk, PPG Retreat, and other events as needed.
- Facilities purchase orders and invoices.
General Responsibilities
- Provides administrative support to a department or group of professionals, exercising confidentiality, tact and diplomacy.
- Utilizes business software applications to prepare correspondence, reports, presentations, agendas, minutes, etc.; compiles data for expense and statistical reports.
- Receives, screens, and directs incoming calls, visitors, mail, and email promptly, courteously, and accurately.
- Schedules and confirms appointments, meetings, and travel arrangements; tracks expenses.
- Participates in the development and implementation of administrative standards, policies and practices for the organization.
- May perform other duties related to maintaining an internal website and/or working with social media.
QUALIFICATIONS
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.
