Description:
ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW
The Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture (NSFA) represents the interests of Nova Scotia’s agricultural community. Today its members account for well over 90% of all agricultural production in Nova Scotia and bring together farm businesses representing all aspects of primary agriculture in the province. The NSFA tackles policy issues that impact the competitive and sustainable nature of the industry and takes an active role in supporting registered farms through delivery of programs and services. The NSFA is currently seeking two Programs Assistants to support our program delivery and services to our members. The NSFA prides itself in providing an enthusiastic work environment and is a tight-knit supportive group encouraging collaboration and sharing of ideas.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Asset: enrolled in or completed post-secondary education in Agriculture, Administration, Communications, Environmental Studies, or Public Relations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Organizational and time management skills, including attention to detail
- Team-oriented but able to work independently
- Knowledge of various software programs (e.g. Microsoft Office, Adobe, Canva, WordPress)
- Knowledge of Nova Scotia agriculture
- Must have a valid Nova Scotia driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle

Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development of promotional and educational materials such as profiles, fact sheets, newsletter articles, and website content
- Assist in preparing digital, print, and video resources for farmers and the industry
- Assist in the planning and delivery of online and in-person events and workshops for farmers, industry and the public
- Draft member communications including electronic newsletters, social media, and print publications
- Engage with farms to schedule appointments, fostering strong relationships and ensuring timely coordination
- Support multi-program and project coordination
- Carry our general office administration tasks, including welcoming visitors, preparing meeting rooms, answering phones, and managing correspondence
