Description:

Founded at Punahou in 2005 to serve public middle school students, the goal of the program is to spark a love of learning that will encourage students to attend college. Partnerships in Unlimited Educational Opportunities (PUEO) utilizes the facilities and faculty at Punahou for a seven-year educational experience of summer school classes and small group mentoring. During the academic year, students participate in several group activities. PUEO is a partnership with the Hawai‘i State Department of Education.

The PUEO administrative team plays an important role in supporting faculty as they attend to the social-emotional learning of our students via intentional opportunities to foster empathy, resilience, moral reasoning, and social responsibility. The Administrative Assistant will provide diversified administrative support and project assistance requiring excellent communication, organization, time management, planning, problem-solving and client services skills, and outstanding administrative abilities as this area of the school continues to evolve and expand. Essential duties and responsibilities include, but may not be limited to the following:

  • Answers phones, takes messages, screens calls and greets visitors (internal and/or external). Responsible for ensuring that appropriate parties are alerted concerning any issues of significance.
  • Composes and/or responds to complex correspondences; updates department documents as instructed by supervisor.
  • Assists with the coordination of the scholar nomination process with HIDOE, PUEO annual registration process and transportation services for scholars.
  • Coordinates and schedules meetings.
  • Responsible for general clerical duties including, but not limited to, managing paperwork, handling mail, data entry, word processing, and making copies.
  • Maintains confidential files and records.
  • Compiles data and prepares reports and presentations.
  • Orders supplies and scheduling equipment repairs.
  • Provides administrative support to other departments as needed.
  • Screen all injuries and illnesses to determine whether student(s) can be helped in office or sent to the Health Center.
  • Fill out and share Event/Trip Log.
  • Monitor and Communicate Daily Attendance and Lunch Count.Supervise student workers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, experience and training.
  • Two (2) years of administrative experience.
  • Experience working in a school environment preferred.
  • Experience working with the area that this position will service is preferred.
  • Certification in CPR/First Aid or other emergency procedures preferred.
