JOB SUMMARY/BASIC FUNCTIONS
Virginia State University (VSU) seeks applicants for an Administrative Assistant/ Office Specialist II for the Department of Teaching & Learning in the College of Education. the successful candidate will provide clerical, fiscal, and administrative support to the Department Chairperson and faculty of the department.
Provides administrative support to the faculty and students in the Department of Teaching and Learning to include: front-line reception in greeting students and visitors to the department, photocopying, fax, mailing, maintaining files, producing reports and records. The incumbent will monitor the departmental budget and facilitate submission requisitions for purchases, schedule and coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, record, and transcribe minutes of meetings. the successful candidate will work independently to provide administrative support to Department Chair in composing documents and memos and other forms of office correspondence along with the handling of requests for data and informatio
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and experience with office/administrative practices and procedures.
Knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and database management.
Demonstrated ability to manage day-to-day office operations; supervise student employees; complete multiple assignments with independent accountability.
Demonstrated skills in providing excellent customer relations and the ability to apply policies and regulations.
Exhibit excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
