ABOUT US

The Vice-Provost, Office of the Vice-Provost (Academic Planning, Policy, and Faculty).works with Deans on academic planning and budgetary matters and develops operational policy to support that planning.
This portfolio also contains the Office of Faculty Relations and the Office of Recruitment for academic staff and is responsible for providing expert advice, support, and leadership on matters relating to Western’s faculty (unionized and non-unionized) and librarians and archivists. We are responsible for the negotiation and the implementation of collective agreements and policies and we work with departments, schools, libraries, and faculties to attract exceptional faculty and librarians and archivists to Western. Our team provides the necessary resources for academic and administrative leaders at Western to support academic excellence.

Experience:

  • Extensive experience of at least 5 years’ in Human Resources and Faculty Relations administration
  • Minimum 5 years experience working in the education secto

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge and experience of Faculty Relations appointment processes, appointment documentation and procedures including recruitment
  • Knowledge and familiarity and understanding of the UWOFA and UWOFA-LA collective agreements, Conditions of Appointments for Physicians, Adjunct Appointment Procedures and Institute Scientist Procedures
  • Knowledge of the University and its structure
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work in a respectful manner with a diverse community of faculty, staff, co-workers, and others
  • Strict adherence to principles of confidentiality
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to work in a fluid and challenging work environment with changing deadlines
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Intermediate computer skills in Word, Excel, data management, and experience and familiarity with PeopleSoft HR, OWL and Laserfiche
  • Customer service skills with a desire to achieve results in a professional and timely manner
  • Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
  • Results-oriented with an ability to handle many tasks and maintain a high level of individual and team performanc

Responsibilities:

The Administrative Coordinator will provide support in implementation and processing human resources related functions specific to Faculty and Librarian and Archivist appointments and documentation. In addition, the coordinator will provide administrative support with the implementation of policies and projects within the Office of Faculty Relations and Recruitment and Retention.
Education:
Undergraduate Degree or Equivalent

Experience:

  • Extensive experience of at least 5 years’ in Human Resources and Faculty Relations administration
  • Minimum 5 years experience working in the education sector
