Description:
INTRODUCTION
The Attorney General is the chief legal officer of the State of Maryland. The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has the general charge, supervision, and direction of the State’s legal business, acting as legal advisors and representatives of the major agencies, various boards, commissions, officials, and institutions of State Government. The OAG also protects the public by civil enforcement of antitrust, civil rights, consumer protection, and securities laws and regulations and by the prosecution of organized crime, Medicaid fraud, environmental crimes, insurance fraud, state tax evasion, and other statutorily assigned matters. As Maryland’s 47th Attorney General, Anthony G. Brown leads the Office with a critical focus on equity, justice, and fairness.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduated from an accredited high school, or possess a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: A minimum of three years’ experience as a legal assistant or legal secretary drafting and reviewing legal documents on behalf of an attorney. In addition, candidates should possess computer skills, organizational skills, and the ability to consistently produce a high volume of work.
Notes:
Thirty college credit hours or a certificate in paralegal studies from an accredited college or law school may be substituted for the required experience.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants shall have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Drive, Google Sheets, and Google Docs; general familiarity with other apps in the Google platform; general familiarity with virtual meeting (zoom, Google Meet, or MS Teams).
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have experience with Westlaw, mdlandrec.net, and the Maryland SDAT website.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
The Office of the Attorney General is seeking applicants for an Administrator I position with its offices at the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development located in Lanham, Maryland.
POSITION DUTIES
Position responsibilities primarily will include: (a) general office support, which includes a variety of tasks that are substantive and important to the office (acting as office resource for new employees and IT/HR/personnel liaison, handling purchasing and invoicing, calendaring, tracking agreements, handling e-fax and mail distribution, answering telephone, drafting correspondence, and other administrative tasks as they arise); (b) document preparation, review, and management (including, but not limited to land record releases, loan modifications, single-family real-estate related documents, contracts, grant agreements, and other transactional documents); (c) basic legal research and litigation support (drafting correspondence and simple legal documents, proofreading, organizing case files, etc.), and (d) assistance to Assistant Attorneys General in other matters as needed.
