POSITION SUMMARY

The Administrative Support Coordinator II is responsible for administrative support across all programs within the School of Public Health. The ASC II will be responsible for coordinating the class scheduling process, the appointment of adjunct faculty and will provide direct support for the faculty recruitment processes. The ASC II will also be responsible for coordinating efficient classroom scheduling and usage.
In addition, the ASC II will be responsible for coordinating and supporting the general operation of the school by answering questions from faculty, students, and the general public. This requires the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently. The ASC II will also ensure the school’s website is up to date, develop forms, flyers, and surveys, maintain filing systems, and calendars, and collect required documents.
The incumbent will assist in planning and scheduling events including faculty meetings, professional development events, retreats, orientations and speakers. The expectation is that this position will be cross-trained in the school’s other administrative functions to ensure necessary tasks are completed in a timely manner.
This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
This position is approved for partial telecommuting with onsite work in San Diego.

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY

The SDSU School of Public Health is in the top 15% of public schools of public health in the nation and ranked in the top 30 of all schools and programs of public health. The school has undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs. Several are joint doctoral programs with the University of California, San Diego, as well as an independent Doctor of Public Health degree program launching in Fall 2024. Enrollment is approximately 900 students across all programs. The school has strong community partnerships, which enable it to provide practical experience to students. The school also engages students in robust research experiences.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.
These entry qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.
