WHO WE ARE
Based in La Ronge, the position reports to the Director of Northern Engagement in the Indigenous and Northern Relations Branch (INR), in the Ministry of Government Relations. Northern Engagement drives a pragmatic, collaborative approach to address the social, economic and environmental priorities of northern Saskatchewan. We have an energetic, knowledgeable team dedicated to improving outcomes for northerners.
As the successful candidate you will:
- Capture, organize and maintain records related to meetings, logistics, communications, budgets, and correspondence;
- Create, format and edit a variety of documents and business correspondence using Microsoft Office Suites.;
- Manage the flow of briefing materials and other material among staff;
- Book and manage the logistics (travel, accommodation, location, supporting documents) for meetings involving several stakeholders from various backgrounds;
- Accurately track budgets and financial transactions;
- Gather relevant information from incoming calls, walk-in clients and co-workers in order to relay accurate messages and provide timely government service;
- Build respectful relationships among parties and clients, and refer them to appropriate contacts;
- Manage multiple and shifting priorities within tight time frames to meet deadlines;
- Communicate clearly with verbal, written, and listening skills;
Organize information to brief officials in a clear, concise, thorough manner.
You will have experience and knowledge of:
Administrative functions, ideally in a government or equally complex environment;
First Nations, Métis and northern communities, including their cultures, political structures, challenges and opportunities.
The competencies for this position are typically achieved through training (a post-secondary certificate) and/or experience related to administrative services.
