MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources, or related field and 1 year of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for Business Administration or Management; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
  • Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in Business Administration, Management, or Human Resources demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology.
  • Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with Business Administration, Management, or Human Resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the field of Business Administration or Management.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
  • Demonstrated ability with spreadsheets.
  • Ability to meet critical deadlines and be flexible to on-going changes.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with various grants and PIs.
  • Knowledge of University of Hawaii and RCUH policies and procedures.
  • Experience with University of Hawaii’s electronic financial systems such as Kuali Financial Systems (KFS) and the RCUH Financial and HR Portal.

Responsibilities:

(NOTE: ** denotes Essential Functions)

  • **Under the direction of the Project Lead, and in coordination with the Principal Investigator and the campus Fiscal Office provides support in the establishment and maintenance of fund accounts and expenditure controls related to all grants.
  • **Assists with the preparation and maintenance of fiscal reports and budgets for assigned grant programs.
  • **Prepare, facilitate, and/or process purchase orders, direct payments, travel requests/completions, contracts, stipends and other related procurement and fiscal activities in compliance with agency and University rules and regulations.
  • **Perform monthly reconciliation of project expenditures; generate monthly invoices ensuring compliance with funding agency’s requirements.
  • **Keep abreast of current University policies, procedures, regulations, directives and State and Federal statutory requirements, i.e., Hawaii Revised Statutes, Hawaii Administrative Rules, and Federal Acquisition Regulations.
  • **Serve as liaison between Leeward CC and various system level offices within the University of Hawaii system including UH Facilities and Telecommunications, as needed.
  • **Assist with preparing personnel payroll documents for grant funded faculty, staff, student and casual hires.
  • Other duties as assigned
