We are committed to fostering academic excellence while celebrating the traditions and values of the Gitxsan people.Position Summary: We are seeking an inspirational and culturally connected Elementary School Administrator to lead our school into the future.
The ideal candidate will bring a passion for education, a deep respect for Gitxsan culture, and a collaborative spirit to support our staff, students, and community in achieving excellence.Key Responsibilities: Provide visionary leadership that reflects the values, culture, and traditions of the Gitxsan people.Oversee the daily operations of the school, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for students and staff.Collaborate with Elders, parents, community members, and staff to integrate Gitxsan language, traditions, and knowledge into the school curriculum and activities.Manage school resources, budgets, and facilities with accountability and transparency.Promote professional development opportunities for staff to foster growth and innovation.Ensure compliance with educational regulations, policies, and agreements, including those specific to First Nation education.Handle student and staff matters, including conflict resolution, crisis management, and disciplinary actions, with fairness and cultural sensitivity.Act as a bridge between the school and the community, building strong relationships and fostering open communication.Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).Valid British Columbia teaching or administrative certification.Minimum five of teaching or leadership experience, preferably in a First Nation or Indigenous school setting.Strong understanding of Gitxsan culture, traditions, and language (or a willingness to learn).Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.A demonstrated commitment to culturally responsive education and the success of Indigenous students.Proficiency in technology for school administration and communication.Why Join Us?
