Description:
Job Summary: The admission counselor is responsible for coordinating the development, implementation, and assessment of recruitment efforts in the assigned territory. The counselor will participate in all major on-campus recruitment events (i.e., open houses, scholarship programs, etc.). The assistant director will likewise manage recruitment responsibilities but will take on additional responsibilities based on the candidate’s skills and the needs of the office.
Essential Functions:
- Participate in the development, implementation, and assessment of tactical recruitment plans for an assigned recruitment territory.
- Coordinate communication initiatives with prospective and admitted students as well as parents throughout the recruitment process.
- Build relationships with high school counselors and local community-based organizations.
- Assist with outreach initiatives to alumni within the assigned territory.
- Participate in all major on-campus visitation programs (i.e., open houses, scholarship programs, etc.). This will include some evening and weekend hours.
- Organize, plan, and coordinate annual travel within assigned territory. The expected timeframe is up to 6-8 weeks in the fall, and 2-3 weeks in the spring.
- Represent Hanover College at high schools and college fairs.
- Conduct admission interviews with prospective students and parents.
- Participate in the review of applicant files for admission decisions.
- Maintain a working knowledge of financial aid programs and policies.
- Represent the Office of Admission with outside constituencies (i.e., athletics, student life, parent/alumni boards, etc.) as assigned.
- Represent the college in various state and national organizations.
Other Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and oversee regional receptions in various locations.
- Travel to regions other than assigned, as needed.
- Provide periodic Saturday office coverage.
- Other duties as assigned by the director of admission.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Admission counselor: Minimum of bachelor’s degree.
Assistant Director: Minimum of bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of professional experience.
Experience Preferred: Admission, public relations, or marketing related experience.
Skills Required:
- Maintain a positive, energetic personality.
- Good driving skills and interest in travel.
