FURTHER INFORMATION

Peterborough City Council is looking to appoint an excellent Admissions & Attendance Manager with a strong record of success and experience in education within a local authority setting. The post will require you to provide strong leadership and management of the Council’s work in these areas ensuring that statutory responsibilities e.g. admissions procedures are met, and that key timelines and deadlines are kept to meet the needs of children and young people and their families.
A key part of the role is to work effectively with schools and partners to promote for example high levels of attendance. You will also be responsible for the delivery of the school admissions processes as required by the School Admissions Code, ensuring all children within the city boundary, where an application has been made, are offered a school place, whilst adhering to timescales published in the Council’s admission arrangements to ensure co-ordination and national statutory deadlines are met.
You will be working closely with many stakeholders; teachers, parents, pupils, the senior leadership team, safeguarding officers and outside agencies, and will need to be able to show sensitivity and objectivity whilst working with confidential issues. Successful candidates will also require strong communication and organisational skills.
You will also contribute to the formulation of overall school place planning, setting policy and performance targets for the service. You will work closely with senior education managers reporting on performance on a regular basis.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced professional with a track record of success, to provide a high quality service and provision for children and young people and their families.

We are very ambitious for all our children in Peterborough and are looking for someone who shares this ambition and who can demonstrate that they:

  • Have successful experience of senior management within a local authority
  • Can provide strategic leadership for the service in a changing context
  • Have strong knowledge of the legal framework governing admissions and attendance
  • Have a thorough understanding, gained from practical experience in a local authority setting
  • Have excellent data analysis and reporting skills
  • Have a highly positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, energy, drive and commitment to make a real difference to the outcomes for our children and young people.
  • are able to work with Elected Members and politically sensitive issues.

We aspire for Peterborough to be one of the best places in the country for young people to grow, learn, develop and achieve – and one of the best places for colleagues to work and thrive in our education system.
