Ascension Recovery Services (Ascension RS) is considered an industry leader in developing and managing comprehensive, fully integrated behavioral health systems, treating SUD and co-occurring mental illness across the full continuum of care. Our experience in the development of treatment facilities encompasses the entire continuum of care, including detoxification and residential treatment facilities, outpatient programming, sober living homes/recovery residences, peer support services, and job training / workforce reintegration. Additionally, Ascension RS (branded as Wise Path Recovery Centers) owns and operates an intensive outpatient program offering intensive outpatient programming (IOP), partial hospitalization programming (PHP) and MAT services, and two residential treatment centers; with our third residential center to open early 2025.
We’re searching for an Admissions Manager to join our team to support the development of the Admissions department for several new facilities being developed in partnership with a client. The first facilities will be located in Iowa & Indiana with the goal to expand across the country.
We are specifically looking for an individual with proven experience developing and leading an Admissions Department for a Residential Substance Use Disorder program.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Partner with leadership to develop the admissions department to support multi-location substance use disorder facilities.
- Facilitate complex admissions involving multiple individuals
- Coordinate private-pay and/or Out-of-Network insurance financial arrangements for treatment including verification of benefits
- Perform admissions assessments, and make sound clinical decisions regarding admission to the facility
- Communicate with referral sources and maintain documentation of all such interactions.
- Coordinate with the Business Development staff to expedite referrals to the facility
- Ensure admissions to the facility occur in a timely and seamless manner
- Verify the coverage requirements, exclusions and limitations of prospective and current patient insurance carrier coverage and identification of financial guarantor and payment arrangements.
- Document all interactions with insurance carriers and their designated representatives, employers, prospective and current patients, and others.
- Enter assessment and admissions data into the EMR, CRM and/or other identified electronic software system
- Function as a liaison between the clinical/medical/housing team and families, coordinates all transportation/travel services and other mental health facilities to organize the admission procedures.
- Compile statistics and data relevant to admissions
- Partner with organization leadership to develop, implement, and maintain revenue-generating strategies related to admissions and patient capacity.
- Determine and implement admissions best-practices, develops and revises admission and discharge processes and policy, and educate facility staff on practices and processes
- Lead admissions staff members; assist with recruitment and performance management of team members; as department grows
- Available to be on-call evenings and weekends via telephone
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in social services, management, healthcare or related discipline required; 5+ years of relevant experience may be substituted for degree
- 4+ years of experience in behavioral health/SUD setting, in admissions, business development, community relations or operations role required
- 4+ years of experience in admissions or case management role in health care setting preferred
- 2+ years of leadership experience required.
- In-depth knowledge of Medicaid and commercial insurance payer processes required
- Knowledge of substance use disorder and recovery process required
