Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Counselling team at Hayward House.
Hayward house is a specialist palliative care unit based in the city hospital campus . We are looking to recruit an experienced Adult & Child Counsellor with extensive face to face experience working with Adults & families
We are a small team of therapists who work closely within a highly committed specialist palliative care team.
You will be passionate about patient centred care and be able to work with adults children and families . You will be responsible for your own caseload and supporting the wider MDT across both inpatient and outpatient services ,this could include working in small groups and day therapy .
The post holder will be based at Hayward House Specialist Palliative Care Unit, City campus, NUH and will provide pre bereavement and bereavement support by way of the following: -
A regular physical presence on the inpatient Unit
A physical availability to support patients and their family/carers on the Unit
Availability to support family/carers via telephone or video link
The service will require the post holder to work fixed days and be flexible around Annual Leave/Sickness

Ensure own counselling practices are supervised on an official and regular basis, in line with current B.A.C.P.
Ensure confidential and comprehensive records are maintained in respect of counselling and bereavement services.
To independently manage a caseload of clients in line with BACP ethical framework.
To respond to crisis situations on the inpatient unit with individuals or families, providing emotional support as needed.
To receive regular supervision in line with BACP recommendations. (This would be funded by the organisation).
Organise caseload and maintain records using electronic patient records, ensuring minimum data set information is collected and collated.
To actively contribute and take part in any quality measuring systems that the service may require.
To participate in staff support activities within the unit
To have availability to support patients, their family and carers by telephone or video link
Clinical & Service
Attend meetings/weekly case conferences to ensure up to date knowledge of patients/relatives in order to offer appropriate support from the Emotional Support and Bereavement Counselling Service.
Manage own caseload of pre bereavement and bereavement counselling work.
Participate in maintaining the running of the service, the collective management of waiting lists, data collection and service feedback.
Organise, co-ordinate and participate in the Annual Remembrance Service.
To keep up to date with NUH Trust Mandatory training and specialised training when required.
Education, Training and Development
Provide in house training for Hayward House Health Professionals as required regarding Bereavement Support.
Participate in audit initiatives and provision of statistics in respect of the Emotional Support and Bereavement Counselling Servic
