Description:

Naomi House and Jacksplace is a leading UK charity that provides palliative and end of life care, symptom management and respite for children and young people with life-limiting conditions. Our holistic approach embraces the clinical, emotional and social needs of the child or young person and their families. Our innovative and enthusiastic team respond to both changing clinical needs, play and activity requests and memory making. We are there for the children and young adults during the good days, the difficult days and the last days.
Key Responsibilities
This is an exciting new opportunity; the role will be right at the heart of shaping Naomi House and Jacksplace for the future. Working closely with the Director of Care (as Registered Manager), the successful Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) will be the first point of contact for children and young adults with all types of health needs in-house, working as an autonomous practitioner and in conjunction with other professionals to make decisions and apply appropriate nursing interventions to the children and young adults. This will include history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of care; working within the Hospices and NMC policies, protocols, and guidelines, demonstrating safe clinical decision making, high levels of critical thinking and holistic practice. You will be expected to act independently but will have access to a Consultant/Associate Speciality Doctor for advice and additional support as necessary.
You will also be expected to be a senior clinical leader and expert within Naomi House and Jacksplace, and at times work alongside other care teams and professionals within hospital settings and the community.
As a qualified Advanced Nurse Practitioner, with experience working with children and young adults you must be able to demonstrate safe clinical decision-making, and sound clinical expertise and knowledge when working with children and young adults. The post holder will support the leadership team to meet the needs of the service users and contribute to service improvements within an environment undergoing change and service development. You will need drive and determination, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a passion and vision that motivates others.
We aim to reach more families who need us and to do more for them in the range of services we offer. The is an exciting time to be joining the organisation as we enter our new strategic period from 2024-2028 and provides the opportunity to influence, grow and improve palliative care services for children and young adults across the south.
