Description:

Role specific duties To provide a high quality, patient centred and sustainable Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Service for the people of East Kent that is efficient, clinically and cost effective. To contribute to the development of Therapy services within EKHUFT for adult and paediatric haemophilia and associated bleeding disorders. To act as a resource to provide expert professional opinion to Therapy staff, Medical staff and other members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team within EKHUFT and the wider health economy. By way of Outpatient Haemophilia Physiotherapy Clinics, provide an advanced level of practice in assessment, diagnosis, treatment and referral.
To be a professional leader and a role model for excellence in Musculoskeletal care across East Kent. Leadership Be a positive role model through provision of strong and effective leadership across professional and organisational teams and boundaries at local and national level. Participate in projects that fulfil strategic planning and Musculoskeletal Service objectives across both inpatient and outpatient services. Create a supportive ethos to empower Musculoskeletal Therapy Team to achieve agreed targets (KPIs), with mutual accountability and contribute to the development of a flexible and responsive service.
Manage team members in the distribution and performance of roles and responsibilities, ensuring compliance with professional standards, legislation and policy and optimising job satisfaction. Enhance team confidence, capability, dynamics and effectiveness to achieve better services for people of East Kent. Provide coaching and mentoring to the Musculoskeletal Therapy Team. Deliver innovation and service improvement to ensure person-centred, safe and effective care.
Effectively manage risk, resources and processes that fall within remit, ensuring optimal efficiency and efficacy of use. Contribute to networks, including (patients/Children and Young People and Parents/Guardians), which provide opportunities to learn about and influence future developments In conjunction with Consultant Therapists and Head of Outpatient Therapy Services, collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Organisational Contribute to the recruitment and selection of Therapy staff to the Musculoskeletal Service. Participate in the strategic service development of the Musculoskeletal Therapy Service and specifically the Haemophilia service and the business planning process.
Collaborate effectively with other EKHUFT Departments and Care Groups. Implement initiatives to ensure sustainability of the Haemophilia Therapy Service. Participate in the staff appraisal scheme and manage performance where necessary. Contribute to the trust wide vision for Haemophilia Outpatient Musculoskeletal Services.
Offer sustainable care which is efficient and cost effective. Clinical To perform independent triage of Musculoskeletal referrals to Secondary care from Primary care, Tertiary centres and from within EKHUFT in order to establish an appropriate care pathway for Haemophilia patients including being first point of contact for Haemophilia patients. Communicate effectively to a high level, using different methods and models of communication to optimise interactions in complex situations. Conduct complex assessments to enable differential diagnosis and to explore the impact of the condition on the patients general health, mental well-being, work/school attendance and functional and meaningful activities including physical activity.
Request and interpret relevant investigations within scope of practice. Make use of appropriate measurements to enable monitoring of progress. Clinically reason to a very high level, using expert knowledge of Haemophilia and associated therapy interventions critical and analytical awareness of current evidence, theory, principles and systems. Identify issues that are beyond scope of practice and that require onwards referral.
Implement evidence-based treatment / management / rehabilitation strategies to a high level of capability and modify these to achieve optimal outcomes. Promote health and well-being including provision of information and collaboration with multiple stakeholders. Facilitate the learning and shared decision making of service users in relation to optimising their own wellbeing To work effectively within the Haemophilia Multidisciplinary Team. Education Promote the culture of a learning organisation which values learning and provides a positive learning environment, incorporating principles of inter-professional learning, effective work-based learning and contribution to development of a supportive infrastructure for all staff and students.
Be responsible and accountable for developing/maintaining skills and knowledge as a facilitator of learning. Contribute to the design, development, delivery and assessment of learning. Educate others on best practice in local, and national settings to positively influence changes in practice Facilitate the application of learning into practice and evaluate impact. Maintan appropriate continuous professional development, being an expert for the specialist therapy and representing the trust on national/international platforms.
