Job Title: Advanced Quality Improvement Specialist (Automotive OEM)
aka Advanced Quality Engineer
Position Type: Direct-Hire

of Openings: 2 (See Group 1 & 2)

Location: Montgomery, AL
Shift: 1st (6:30AM - 4:45PM) - 1.5x overtime after 40 hrs/week
Salary Range: $60k - $75k

POSITION SUMMARY:

Support Advanced Quality Improvement department goals and objectives by coordinating, testing, and evaluating trial vehicles and parts related to the assigned systems in an automotive manufacturing environment. Complete Issue Investigations and provide feedback for overall vehicle design improvements. Complete new model generation changes and execute multiple stages of vehicle development. The goal is to assist the team with working towards the start of production. Must be familiar with vehicle assembly and disassembly - common tools used & methods to investigate new model launch vehicles. Candidates will complete Issue Investigations and provide feedback for overall vehicle design improvements. Candidate must be able to physically crawl into vehicle under dash, trunk, etc. to root cause and possibly remove/install parts that have issues, take photos and document/report findings and suggestions to remedy. OT is plentiful.
Group 1) New Model Development Group ~ Interior Specialist - Complete interior of the car - seats, carpets, headliners, dashboards, etc.
&
Group 2) Complex Resolution/Improvement Group - New models / Soft model changes - Electrical specialist

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required, mechanical or industrial engineering preferred

RELATED EXPERIENCE

  • 2 - 5 years of job-related experience preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and track Engineering Order and Model Change testing activities with related departments.
  • Participate in Benchmark activities of competitor vehicles.
  • Gather data, test, and monitor New Projects in the Prototype stage.
  • Evaluate vehicles and new technology at each stage of the New Model Process.
  • Conduct Key Engineering Order trials, testing, and investigation activities.
  • Participate in Complex Issue Investigations and develop recommended countermeasures.
  • Create and present evaluation activity reports.
  • Attend required meetings.
  • Administer, coordinate, and comply with all Business Management System (BMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and Safety Management System (SMS) requirements.
  • Meet all other requirements as assigned.
