Description:
SUMMARY
Principia is looking for an Advancement Marketing Specialist. Reporting to the Marketing Director of External Engagement, the Advancement Marketing Specialist is a key team member of Advancement Marketing, with responsibility for driving strategic marketing and communications efforts that support fundraising, alumni relations, and community engagement initiatives. You will create a diverse range of content that elevates and reinforces Principia’s image and brand, including social media, email campaigns, webpages, direct mail, and other marketing projects.
The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator with a talent for crafting compelling messages, a creative thinker who brings innovative ideas to the table, and someone who is proficient across social media, print, and web. Additionally, you should be a resourceful team member, committed to excellence, highly organized with a keen attention to detail and good judgment, and capable of managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Student of Christian Science; if not, then values-aligned
- Supportive of Principia’s mission, vision, and values as articulated here https://www.principia.edu/about/mission
- 2–4 years of experience in communications, marketing, digital marketing; higher education or non-profit experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or a related field
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Demonstrated experience in creating content for multi-channel platforms, including web, social media, print, and email
- Proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms, including social media, content management systems (CMS), and email marketing software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneDrive, Teams)
- Excellent communicator, creative thinker, strong organizational ability, and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify and highlight key stories, achievements, and milestones, and produce compelling content for various channels, including social media, email, direct mail, and web
- Execute targeted email marketing campaigns tailored for various constituents, including alumni, donors, and other target audiences
- Craft personalized and impactful content to not only foster engagement but also drive successful fundraising initiatives
- Enhance Principia’s brand positioning within the digital space through innovative and strategic approaches
- Manage and execute social media communication plans for key engagement and giving day events
- Coordinate the production of marketing materials—brochures, flyers, direct mail, video, and signage
- Monitor and analyze communication metrics to evaluate and optimize the effectiveness of campaigns (digital, social, and print) and recommend refined strategies as needed to ensure that campaigns continuously evolve for maximum impact
- Maintain social media and website content calendar
- Update web content and social media platforms to ensure messaging remains timely and consistent with strategic priorities
- Provide creative ideas to ensure messaging is clear, forward-looking, and innovative
- Perform other creative duties as needed
