Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Executive Director, Human Resources, the Human Resources Advisor is responsible for supporting the Site’s Operational Departments with a focus on team member relations, leave and disability management, occupational health and safety, labour relations and team member onboarding. In this role, they will also support the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources team with respect to fielding team member enquiries and fulfilling compliance requirements. The Advisor, Human Resources ensures adherence to the Company’s policies and procedures, motivates others, leads by example and supports Great Canadian’s learning environment while establishing a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Provide guidance and support to managers on employment legislation, team member relations, collective application and HR policies.
- Assist with ensuring that the site achieves its compliance requirements and targets.
- Assist with internal investigations and provide recommendations on findings.
- Answer questions on payroll and benefits and liaise with Corporate Payroll and Total Rewards on behalf of team members with respect to enrollment/changes, payroll discrepancies, etc.
- Support Corporate HR initiatives including but not limited to surveys, policy and procedure revisions, implementing new processes and programs at site level.
- Support the workplace health and safety program, including the joint health & safety committee, incident investigations and completion of workplace inspections,
- Facilitate and manage leaves, including both occupation and non-occupational gradual return to work programs and processes.
- Facilitate and deliver Corporate new hire orientation and training across a variety of people management topics.
- Provide HR reports as requested; coordinate the collection and retention of HR related documentation.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR programs, services and initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree and/or diploma in Human Resources Management from a recognized post-secondary institution, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
- Minimum of 3-5 years working experience in Human Resources; specific experience in training is required.
- A CPHR designation an asset
- Working knowledge of employment and human rights legislation, as well as WorkSafe BC regulations.
- Strong computer skills working with MS Office programs.
- Experience with timekeeping and HRIS systems are considered assets
- Exceptional customer service orientation; across all levels of the organization.
- Possess strong organizational, time management and project management skills
- Exhibit a high level of professionalism and demonstrated ability to effectively build rapport with others.
- Listens thoroughly to issues and responds appropriately; demonstrates assertiveness when appropriate.
- Experience managing disability management files and assisting with gradual return to work programs.
- Experience working in a unionized environment an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and written.
- Maintains and exercises a high degree of discretion and confidentiality.
- The ability to successfully obtain the required registration through the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch.
