We are looking for an Advisor, Mi’kmaq Relations to join Nova Scotia Power’s Health, Safety & Environment team in a permanent position. Our downtown-based corporate head office is located along the Halifax waterfront, where we offer a hybrid work option enabling you to work from home 2 days each week. Reporting to the Sr. Advisor, Mi’kmaq Relations, you will engage with the 13 Mi’kmaq First Nations communities, fostering collaborative, meaningful relationships, and play a vital role in implementing Mi’kmaq Relations strategies.
Key elements of this role include::
- Participate in activities to engage and build collaborative relationships with Mi’kmaq communities across Nova Scotia and Kwilmu’kw Maq-klusuaqn (KMK), built on respect and trust.
- Be a trusted liaison for our Mi’kmaq communities on all NS Power operational matters.
- Provide advice and guidance to NS Power teams in areas of Mi’kmaw interest.
- Support and maintain existing relationships with internal and external rightsholders and stakeholders.
- Assist with the preparation and delivery of presentations for engagement activities and cultural awareness training.
- Participate in, and support logistics for, engagement meetings, working groups, and site visits.
- Support the delivery of the Mi’kmaq Bursary Program.

- Experience with building and sustaining relationships with Mi’kmaq communities.
- Strong interpersonal communication and community engagement skills.
- Resilience in adapting to evolving situations, plans and strategies.
- Able to thrive in fast moving and ambiguous environments.
- 3-5 years relevant experience and/or a bachelor’s degree in related field.
