Grant Thornton’s Regulatory Advisory practice supply a range of services to regulatory authorities, licensed financial institutions and other relevant organizations. Partnering with our colleagues in Business Risk Services, Forensics, Business Consulting among others, our work falls broadly into the following areas: Regulatory Compliance Advisory, Prudential Regulations, Compliance Governance and Assurance among others. Our work falls broadly into the following areas: providing expert guidance on Prudential banking laws and regulations, with a specific focus on Capital Adequacy, Liquidity requirements, Basel 1, 2, 3, Quantitative Models, and Expected Credit Loss (ECL) Models, Risk assessments and Regulatory Compliance to our clients in the banking sector, ensuring their compliance, risk management, and overall success.

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:

The Associate Director will assist the Regulatory Advisory Director/Partner to deliver Prudential regulatory projects to large financial services clients and other institutions in the UAE and the region. They will also be expected and encouraged to take a key role in the development of new business relationships and opportunities as well as developing and growing the team.
We are looking for candidates with a genuine interest in our clients and a passion to help them navigate Regulatory challenges. We are looking for candidates with proven strategic leadership experience in Prudential Banking Laws including an in-depth understanding of UAE’s Prudential banking laws, regulations and guidelines. As an Associate Director specialized in Prudential Regulatory Advisory you are expected to be specialized in Capital Adequacy, Liquidity Laws, Basel (1, 2 and 3), Quantitative Models, and Expected Credit Loss Models, among others.

As a service within Regulatory Advisory, we are expanding our Prudential team to deliver bespoke solutions to our clients, of all sizes by providing exemplary service for their requirements by providing the advice they need to navigate complex Prudential and Regulatory matters and challenges including:

  • Regulatory Excellence: Provide expert guidance to clients in aligning their operations with the dynamic landscape of Prudential banking laws. Oversee comprehensive policy and procedure reviews, conduct gap assessments, and ensure seamless compliance, fostering a balance between regulatory adherence and strategic business objectives.
  • Holistic Risk Management: Spearhead the identification and mitigation of potential risks and challenges stemming from the application of Prudential banking laws. Develop and implement strategic solutions to fortify clients’ long-term stability and resilience, positioning them as leaders in capital risk management.
  • Basel Framework Implementation: Lead clients in the effective adoption and implementation of Basel 1, 2, and 3 frameworks. Ensure precise risk assessment, optimal capital adequacy, and heightened financial stability, utilizing your strategic insights and directorial acumen.
  • Quantitative Modelling: Harness your advanced expertise in quantitative modelling techniques to direct clients in developing cutting-edge risk models and stress testing methodologies. Elevate their risk management capabilities, driving innovation and adaptability.
  • Expected Credit Loss (ECL) Models: Drive the assessment and implementation of ECL models, overseeing the assessment of credit risk, loss provisioning, and seamless integration into financial reporting processes. Navigate complexities with finesse and provide strategic foresight for optimal financial outcomes.
  • Global Perspectives and Knowledge Sharing: Stay at the forefront of Prudential banking laws and regulations in the UAE and international arenas. Share profound industry insights and international best practices with clients and the internal team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
  • Team oversight: Oversee the efforts of the team on client engagements; direct, plan, execute, and complete regulatory projects. Lead, manage, motivate, and coach other members of the team, working with a great team of like-minded colleagues all focused on supporting each other to perform at their best.
  • Client Relationships: Build client relationships, identifying growth opportunities with existing and potential clients and leading the pursuit process through to converting these into new wins.
  • Engagement oversight: Negotiate fees and the timely billing of fees for work completed on your client portfolio. Responsible for engagement financials including billing, collecting and maintaining profitability of the team.
