Join Umbra’s Manufacturing team as a Spacecraft Aerospace Technician and take on a vital role in constructing the satellites we launch annually. In this hands-on position, you’ll be involved in the assembly and testing of our cutting-edge spacecraft systems. Your skills will not only aid in the successful creation of satellites but will also help improve and optimize our manufacturing processes across various projects. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in aerospace, manufacturing, military, or automotive settings.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Familiarity with mechanical measuring tools such as torque wrenches, fixtures, tooling, gauges, calipers, and other measuring devices.
  • Capacity to handle equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including navigation and file management.
  • Manual dexterity for handling and assembling small parts.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed to meet project goals.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in assembly of complex mechanical / electrical systems with preference to small team / startup environments
  • Experience working with delicate spacecraft hardware, especially wire harnessing and moving mechanical assemblies
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
  • Ability to take project goals inputs and works towards that end-goal beyond individual task assignment
  • Certification in engineering disciplines

ITAR/EAR REQUIREMENTS

This position may include access to technology and/or data that is subject to U.S. export controls pursuant to ITAR and EAR. To comply with federal export controls, all persons hired must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, refugee or asylee as defined by 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3), or must otherwise be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State and/or U.S. Department of Commerce as applicable.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the assembly and testing of various spacecraft manufacturing tasks.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of manufacturing and testing infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with engineers to develop and document test procedures.
  • Maintain manufacturing documentation and reports, including assembly procedures and test reports.
  • Assist in designing and fabricating test fixtures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
