Description:

This position is a part-time After School teaching position. The teachers would be helping facilitate our After-School Programming by supervising students, helping run clubs, and assisting the students in building meaningful relationships with the world around them. Explorations serves the students who attend the Lower School at The Providence Country Day School in East Providence RI, and their families during the school year only. The work hours (up to 15 per week or up to 3 hours per day) are typically Monday through Friday from 2:45pm-5:45pm. Previous teaching experience is preferred, but not required. The ability to work multiple shifts a week would be ideal. This role is supervised by the Explorations Director, and the leadership team at The Providence Country Day School.

EXPECTATIONS

  • Maintains the classrooms that each grade level uses, and the community spaces each class uses
  • Follows Curriculum and Activity Guidelines set forth by the Explorations Director
  • Picks students up from classrooms and helps them safely get to their Explorations room
  • Assists with the process of checking each student into Explorations, and helps with dismissal by checking adult identification
  • Builds positive relationships with each family that uses Explorations
  • Supervises the children during after school activities
  • Runs clubs for students to explore different interests
  • Accepts responsibility for housekeeping duties of the playground, gym, classrooms, and any other space used
  • Facilitates snack times and follows bathroom policies
  • Assists in other capacities as determined by the Director
  • Observes all policies and practices of Providence Country Day School and local, state, or national regulatory agencies pertaining to health, safety and care of children
  • Maintains overall professional personal appearance
  • Provides support to the summer program if one is scheduled
  • Performs related duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Must have experience working with children
  • Must be willing to learn
  • Must be pursuing higher education

Preferred:

  • CPR, First Aid, and AED Certified
  • Experience in camps, or with children and families
  • Ability to be flexible
