genAG Inc. is looking for 3 full time, Agricultural Equipment Technicians, Level 3 (or higher), for our Portage location, reporting to the Service Manager. As an equipment technician, you are responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing agricultural equipment in a clean and safe manner. Knowledge of potato equipment will be considered an asset.

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Diagnose problems and determine what repairs are needed.
  • Perform any inspections required.
  • Repair, service or assemble any machines.
  • Keep accurate, easy to read records of work performed and make up service quotes as needed.
  • Maintain a clean work area including the machine being serviced.
  • Maintain safe work habits.
  • Check and report any shortages and malfunctions to the Service Advisor.
  • Maintain and care for all shop tools, machines and equipment.
  • Suggest any additional repairs needed to Service Advisor and/or Customer.
  • Dress in uniform provided at all times.
  • Help maintain cleanliness, neatness and safety of building and lot.
  • Give special attention to repeat repairs or comebacks to correct problems and avoid future shop comebacks and unnecessary expenses.

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understand and follow legislation and workplace safety and health requirements.
  • Following safe work procedures.
  • Use safety equipment, machine guards, safety devices and personal protective equipment.
  • Report unsafe acts and workplace hazards.
  • Report accidents, near misses, injuries or illnesses immediately.
  • Work and act safely and helping others to work and act safely.
  • Co-operate with the workplace safety and health committee and others on safety and health issues.
