Description:

Longtrail Farms is currently seeking an experienced Agriculture Technician to join our team located in Parilla, Southern Mallee on a full-time permanent basis.
Reporting to the Workshop Manager you will undertake repairs and maintenance to a wide range of agriculture vehicles and equipment including tractors, trucks, headers and associated agriculture equipment.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Diagnosing faults in diesel engines, transmissions and mechanical parts.
  • Dismantling and repairing engines, transmissions and mechanical parts.
  • Performing maintenance services on vehicles and agricultural equipment.
  • Testing and diagnosing vehicles and equipment for operational efficiency.
  • Undertaking repairs on farm.
  • Ordering spare parts for vehicles and equipment.

Skills and Experience:

  • AQF Certificate II or III, or at least one year of relevant experience (ANZSCO Skill Level 3).
  • Mechanical and welding aptitude.
  • Previous experience maintaining farm equipment.
  • Extensive experience with irrigation systems.
  • Previous experience operating farm machinery.
  • Good computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and online systems/apps.
  • Forklift license.
  • Chemical User Permit or willingness to complete.

  • Working unsupervised when required.
  • Communication: Maintain open communication with all staff and participate in all staff meetings.
  • Record keeping: Maintain accurate and timely recording of all activities in your area of the business.
  • Safety: The business aims to drive a safety-first culture and ensure that all staff and contractors are adhering to the policies set by the business. It is a requirement of all staff to set the standard and drive this culture.
  • Presentation: Improve the presentation of the overall business. Individually everyone needs to ensure their vehicle, machinery, equipment and yard, at a minimum, are neatly presented. Ideally, all staff can be anywhere around the farm or business and feel a sense of pride for their workplace.
